Patient Care launches reform resource service

Milwaukee-based Patient Care has launched Exchange Advocate, a new service to help its members, clients and consultants understand health care reforms.

The Affordable Care Act requires exchanges to be operational in each state by October 2013 and begin open enrollment for the 2014 plan year. An exchange is a federal or state-regulated marketplace/platform that allows individuals to shop for health insurance plans. The exchanges will allow them to compare various standardized plans and choose the one that suits their specific needs.

“We created Exchange Advocate to assist our 1.5 million members in navigating new health care system elements,” said Jane Cooper, chief executive officer of Patient Care. “From choosing a plan within the new required exchanges to explaining benefit design choices, Patient Care is here to help.”

With Exchange Advocate, members can receive clarification about subsidies and qualification rules, get assistance with finding a primary care physician or other provider, ask questions on prescription drug coverage and preventive care and obtain a comparison of available benefit plans.

Patient Care works through employers to help over 1.5 million members navigate the health care system and become better health care consumers.  Clients include Assurant Health, Harley-Davidson Motor Company, Briggs & Stratton, Cargill and Vitamin Shoppe.
