Milwaukee startup OnKol plans to move from Startup Milwaukee’s 96square co-working space to another collaborative community, Ward4 Milwaukee.
96square is an 11,000-square-foot open office space the Blatz Wash House building in downtown Milwaukee. It was opened in 2013 to provide collaborative workspace for entrepreneurs and build momentum for the startup community.
Ward4 opened in April in the Pritzlaff building just outside Milwaukee’s Third Ward. It is the newest of Milwaukee’s growing community of collaborative workspaces. OnKol, which makes a remote monitoring system used by children to keep track of their elderly parents’ health, has signed a lease for the last available space in the startup hub.
“This incubator space is as innovative as it gets in Milwaukee and we look forward to collaborating with the best of the best,” said Marc Cayle, chief operating officer and founder of OnKol. “We wanted to be closer to our programmers, which happen to have an office across the street, and it’s just a cool energy place.”
Once OnKol gets its next round of funding, which will total about $5 million, it plans to bring in more employees and ramp up the business, Cayle said.
