Ogden purchases East Side site for apartment development

Jackson Street property eyed for new apartment building

Milwaukee developer Ogden Multifamily Partners LLC is planning to build an apartment complex on North Jackson Street on the East Side of Milwaukee in an area that is attracting numerous apartment projects.

Ogden purchased the property at 1659 N. Jackson St. for $675,000 from Theodore Dragotta according to state records. The 0.28-acre property includes a two-story, 13,000-square-foot building, which will be demolished, and a parcel of vacant land.

The property is assessed by the city of Milwaukee at $558,000.

Jason Pietsch, principal of Ogden Multifamily Partners, LLC, said it is too early to know for certain the scope of the project, but said 40 units is likely a decent starting point.

“We don’t know for sure, but it will be in line with what is being done on that street,” Pietsch said.

Wiechmann Enterprises is planning a 30-unit apartment building at 1623-1639 N. Jackson St.

Ogden will submit plans to the city of Milwaukee within 30 to 90 days, Pietsch said, adding that it is too early to know the size of the apartments, but they will be market rate and “smaller,” which has worked well in that neighborhood.

“That corridor has had a lot of successful development,” he said. “And it is conveniently located to grocery stores and across from our headquarters.”
