Kenosha-based information technology firm and data center operator OFFSITE announced plans for a new hyperscale data center campus in Pleasant Prairie.

According to a news release, the 12-acre campus will be scalable up to 250,000 square feet with up to 35 megawatts of critical load, though the first phase calls for 50,000 square feet to be built. The campus will be located in the Prairie Highlands Corporate Park, and will allow the company to expand its service menu to offer wholesale and hyperscale data-center services to large enterprise clients.

OFFSITE will join Haribo of America and Aurora Health Care as tenants of the Prairie Highlands Corporate Park, which is located north of 104th Street and west of Interstate 94.

The data center will feature a state-of-the-art co-location design, expansive client amenities, conference rooms, IT training facilities, workspace and vendor event space. The site is under contract for purchase by OFFSITE.

“We have been operating our current data center campus in southeast Wisconsin since 2001 and the location between two major metros (Milwaukee and Chicago) has served our client base and company well,” Steve Borucki, president and chief executive officer of OFFSITE, said in the release. “This expansion speaks to the rapid growth of OFFSITE as well as the region. Southeast Wisconsin is the place to be right now and this project is designed to capture and capitalize on that growth.”

The new facility is expected to come online in 2020. The first phase will require at least 30 employees to run the facility. That could grow as more square footage is added.

OFFSITE is a full-service IT solutions provider, offering specialized platforms for high-performance cloud, backup and replication, disaster recovery, workplace recovery and high-density colocation. Beyond its 50,000-square-foot headquarters facilities, it has redundant data center operations in Chicago and Denver.
