Oconomowoc’s newest apartment development opens today

The Gateway Apartments latest in suburban apartment boom

Gateway Apartments are located on the roundabout near downtown.

The Gateway Apartments, Oconomowoc’s newest apartment development, opened today at the roundabout that leads to the city’s downtown.

The $4.5 million project was a joint agreement between the city and Brookfield-based Premier Real Estate Management that included public financing and a transfer of city-owned property.

The Gateway Apartments, at 115 S. Silver Lake St., feature 42 one- and two-bedroom units ranging in price from $1,250 to $2,050. Amenities include a fitness room, dog wash, movie room and business center.

Nature photography is hung throughout the building and features local scenes by Oconomowoc resident and artist Joe Haas.

The demand for apartments has been booming in Oconomowoc and throughout the Milwaukee suburbs. Wauwatosa-based Wangard Partners is working on phase two of The Preserve at Prairie Creek, 1200 Prairie Creek Blvd.,  which will include 160 units. Phase one, which is 228 units, is already fully leased.

The Gateway Apartments began leasing today.
