Nursing home planned on South 27th Street in Oak Creek

Illinois health care company purchases 8.8-acre site

An Illinois health care company purchased 8.8 acres of vacant land on South 27th Street in Oak Creek to build a 138-bed nursing home.

Villa Health Care purchased the property, located on the east side of 27th Street, between Puetz Road and Drexel Avenue, from Apple Tower Development, Inc., Cudahy, for $1.4 million, according to state records.

In May 2015, the city of Oak Creek approved a zoning change that allows Villa Health to build a 79,000-square-foot skilled nursing facility on the property that will be called The Villa at Oak Creek.

Plans call for a one-story, 72-unit facility that will include 96 parking stalls and employ 50 people.

Oak Creek City Administrator Gerald Peterson said he expects construction will begin this year.
