Stacey Steinberg, executive director of marketing and communication at the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design, assumed leadership of the college’s first stand-alone marketing/communications department in 2021 and was promoted to executive director in 2022.
Marketing was previously split between the enrollment and development departments. Steinberg had been serving as an enrollment and communication leader since 2009.
“Stacey immediately began creating a service-oriented department to support college-wide communications and strengthen MIAD’s brand, values and voice across all media, departments and programs – all with a student-experience focus that not only benefited MIAD’s core constituency, but also amplified the college’s mission and outcomes for general, donor and alumni audiences,” said Jeff Morin, president of MIAD.
In addition to building a new team, among Steinberg’s first priorities was a post-pandemic brand refresh, primarily in recruiting materials and the website. This refresh was integrated with communications in student services, advancement, MIAD galleries and many other departments. The effort helped boost applications and contributed to a 3.7% increase in admissions in 2022-23, according to Morin.
