Notable Health Care Leaders: Thomas Connor

Class of 2023

Dr. Thomas Connor is a professor and surgeon at the Medical College of Wisconsin Eye Institute in Wauwatosa.

“When discussing surgeons and health care, somehow vision is overlooked,” said Diana Voigt, director of marketing and communications for Beyond Vision. “Every doctor can have lasting effects on our lives. Dr. Connor’s impact can be seen.”

She noted that one of Connor’s patients has talked about his care since she was diagnosed with an eye condition at the age of 14.

“As her sight continued to change as she grew to adulthood and started a family, each step was guided by Dr. Connor’s awareness of services and opportunities for her,” said Voigt. “His knowledge not only diagnosed her physical needs, but also gave her the emotional support and confidence to pursue a career and not allow sight to stop her advancement.”

As a professor, Connor is working to ensure the next group of eye care specialists is aware of the fear that vision loss and vision changes can create.
