Northwestern Mutual makes $1M commitment to Milwaukee neighborhoods

Northwestern Mutual Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Milwaukee-based Northwestern Mutual, is spreading more than $1 million among nonprofits improving quality of life in the city’s Amani, Metcalfe Park and Muskego Way neighborhoods.

The foundation will distribute the funds through its neighborhoods grants program.

Northwestern Mutual has awarded dollars to Amani, Metcalfe Park and Muskego Way neighborhoods – neighborhoods ripe for improvement – over the last two years. Funds have benefited nonprofits on the ground in each neighborhood working to reinforce safety, ensure youth are healthy and thriving, support strong families and advance education.

Through its neighborhood grants program, Northwestern Mutual teams up with neighborhood partners for collective impact initiatives that will inspire systemic change. Along with funds, the company supplies volunteers toward community improvement efforts and also brings together neighborhood stakeholders.

Nonprofit organizations receiving grants include: ACTS Community Development Corporation; Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee; COA Youth & Family Centers; Dominican Center for Women, Inc.; Feeding America of Eastern Wisconsin; Harry and Rose Samson Family Jewish Community Center Inc.; Hunger Task Force; Journey House; Junior Achievement of Wisconsin; Kiva Microfunds; Legal Aid Society of Milwaukee; Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) Milwaukee; Metcalfe Park Building Neighborhood Capacity Program; Milwaukee Christian Center, Inc.; Milwaukee Repertory Theater; Pathfinders; The Parenting Network; Rogers memorial Hospital Foundation: Safe & Sound; Sixteenth Street Community Health Centers; Sojourner Family Peace Center; United Community Center; and United Neighborhood Centers of Milwaukee.

Each awardee will be required to demonstrate measurable impacts and results.
