Milwaukee-based Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Co. recently held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the completion of the $85 million, 6-story, 386,000-square-foot expansion of its Franklin office complex, located northwest of South 27th Street and Drexel Avenue.
The project included 230,000 square feet of office space to house 1,100 employees, a 156,000-square-foot parking structure with a 1,655-vehicle capacity, a 100-person training room, dining and conference rooms.
The expansion added on to the 500,000-square-foot office building that Northwestern Mutual completed in 2004.
“This new facility is symbolic of Northwestern Mutual’s steady growth, our commitment to serving clients, and our more than 150-year tradition of doing business in Wisconsin,” Northwestern Mutual president and CEO Edward Zore said in news release. “Because of our expansion and financial strength, we are well-positioned to grow over the long term and continue doing what we do best: help our more than 3.3 million clients achieve financial security.”
Northwestern Mutual has more than $1 trillion of life insurance protection in force and the company employs more than 5,000 people in the Milwaukee area.
