Milwaukee-based Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Co. appointed Laura Deaner to chief information security officer, the company recently announced. In her new role, Deaner will lead the company’s enterprise information risk and cybersecurity team and also be responsible for spearheading Northwestern Mutual’s information security strategy, according to a press release. Most recently, Deaner served in the same capacity at S&P Global. Before S&P Global, Deaner held leadership positions at Morgan Stanley, JPMorgan Chase, Citigroup and PR Newswire. "Information security, risk management, and protecting information continues to be a top priority and allows us to deepen our relationships with clients, financial representatives, and employees," Northwestern Mutual chief information officer Neal Sample said in a statement. "Laura's information security experience, technical skillset, and leadership within the cybersecurity industry positions her to advance our security strategy, while continuing our focus on securing our data and protecting clients' personal information."
