Seeking to capitalize on the growth of the northern suburbs, the Milwaukee law firm O’Neil, Cannon & Hollman is merging with the Port Washington law firm Runkel, Ansay & Haggenjos.
O’Neil, Cannon & Hollman’s managing shareholder Jim DeJong’s name is being added to the name of the merged firm.
The Port Washington office will be known as Ansay, O’Neil, Cannon, Hollman, DeJong. The downtown Milwaukee office will be known as O’Neil, Cannon, Hollman, DeJong.
The two firms have worked together for years, and O’Neil, Cannon & Hollman wanted to strengthen the firm’s presence in fast-growing Ozaukee and Washington Counties, DeJong said.
Many local law firms have overlooked the northern suburbs, preferring instead to add offices in Waukesha County, he said.
"If you look at the development all the way from Milwaukee to Sheboygan, there is a lot going on," DeJong said.
Jean Ansay was the sole shareholder of the Port Washington firm. Mike Haggenjos left the Port Washington firm in late January to become a vice president with Voeller Inc. of Port Washington. Paul Runkel has been retired for several years, DeJong said.
Ansay will lead the Port Washington office.
"Pooling the resources of our firms will allow us to do an even better job of serving our clients’ needs by offering them enhanced and additional services with even greater efficiency," Ansay said.
The merged law firm specializes in corporate law and civil litigation. The new firm will have 28 attorneys.
