YWCA adds to its board of directors
The YWCA of Greater Milwaukee has added new members to its board of directors. They include: Faithe Colas, community relations director of the Salvation Army of Greater Milwaukee, Joanne Passaro, Ph.D., provost & vice president for academic affairs at Carroll University, Lois Smith, retiree from real estate equities at Northwestern Mutual, Betty Stowell, vice president & senior commercial relationship manager at Harris Bank, and Ann Wilson, manager at Hillside Family Resource Center.
United Way of Waukesha County announces campaign cabinet
The 2010 campaign co-chairs for United Way in Waukesha County have reinstated the campaign cabinet structure for the 2010 United Way campaign. Co-chairs Dave and Katy Vetta have announced the selection of the campaign cabinet. The campaign cabinet includes: Dave Vetta, president & CEO of First Business Bank; Katy Vetta, community volunteer; Jeff Arnold, president of Waukesha County Labor Council; Matt Boray, partner and senior account executive at M3 Insurance Solutions, Inc; Craig Coursin, president of MSI General Corporation; Todd Gray, superintendent of Waukesha School District; Pam Guida, branch manager, at Johnson Bank; Suzanne Kelley, president of the Waukesha County Chamber of Commerce; Julianne Klimetz, media relations in Waukesha County Executive’s Office; Kathy Madden, clerk of circuit courts for Waukesha County; Austin Ramirez, chief executive officer of INCOVA Technologies; Ken Riesch, immediate past United Way Campaign Chair and president & CEO of R&R Insurance Services; John Robertstad, president of Oconomowoc Memorial Hospital; Dennis Sampson, senior vice president of business development at First Business Bank; Joan Shafer, vice president of WE Energies; Teri Terrill, executive director of Family Service of Waukesha County; Dr. Rajiv Varma, retired physician at Medical College of Wisconsin
Junior Achievement Wisconsin nationally recognized
Junior Achievement of Wisconsin recently received three national awards at its National Leadership Conference in July. Junior Achievement of Wisconsin was honored with the non-profit organization’s Platinum Summit Award. The Summit Award is given by JA Worldwide’s headquarters to local JA operations that have reached outstanding success in financial health, program quality, management effectiveness, and program growth. Junior Achievement of Wisconsin is the only JA operation to have earned this honor since its inception in 1987.
"The Summit Award represent the best Junior Achievement has to offer," said Jack Kosakowski, president and chief executive officer of Junior Achievement USA and executive vice president and chief operating officer of JA Worldwide "They set the standard by which Junior Achievement is measured. Their commitment and dedication to young people is reflected in their achieving this honor."
"We are thrilled to receive the Summit Award," said Tim Greinert, president of Junior Achievement of Wisconsin. "The entire staff and board have worked hard to ensure the continued success of Junior Achievement. We look forward to an exciting year of a launching new programming here."
Junior Achievement of Wisconsin also received one of five 2010 MetLife Foundation Entrepreneurial Awards. This award recognizes offices that demonstrate entrepreneurship and innovation in achieving sustainable results for JA’s primary stakeholders – students, schools, volunteers, and donors. Each winner receives a cash award of $25,000 to continue and expand their work, and JA shares information about their work with other JA offices. Greinert was also named the 2010 recipient of the Junior Achievement Charles R. Hook Award, given to a JA president who demonstrates superior results in promoting the growth and development of Junior Achievement through an area operation in the U.S. region.
“Winning this award is a great honor. It truly represents the passion, dedication and hard work of our staff and board of directors,” said Greinert. “With the involvement by so many passionate board members, volunteers and community leaders, we will continue to be effective in empowering young people to own their future economic success.”
During Greinert’s tenure as president, Junior Achievement of Wisconsin has increased the number of students involved to over 165,000 during the 2009-2010 school year. In the new academic year, the staff and board will build a new facility that includes two interactive learning labs for JA BizTown and JA Finance Park programs.
