Three nonprofits, with a $150,000 budget, are partnering with Rebuilding Together Greater Milwaukee to repair 30 homes on North 17th Street and North 18th Street in the Lindsay Heights neighborhood.
Walnut Way Conservation Corp., the Social Development Commission and Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin are participating in the event.
The nonprofits will also offer one-on-one health and wellness consultations to neighborhood residents.
The project, called RTGM Block Build MKE 2016 will end with a block party that includes food and live music on May 21.
“We are grateful to have wonderful, committed partners that have helped make this project a reality for the Walnut Way neighborhood,” said Lynnea Katz-Petted, CEO of RTGM.
In addition to the repairs, the Social Development Commission will provide lending assistance that will help homeowners weatherize their homes and secure resources for more repairs. Feeding America is donating lunch to volunteers throughout the weekend and will provide food boxes to neighborhood homeowners.
