- Thursday, Oct. 28, The Milwaukee Public Library Foundation will honor the Richard and Ethel Herzfeld Foundation and Gale Klappa, CEO of Wisconsin Energy Corporation at the Benjamin Franklin Awards, which annually honors those who have made significant contributions to literacy and life-long learning. The event will be held at the Central Library, 814 W. Wisconsin Ave., from 5 to 9 p.m. This “Taste of Central Library” features a menu of literary inspired delicacies served in Art & Music, Science & Business, Humanities, and the Betty Brinn Children’s Rooms. Proceeds provide books and materials for the library system, special programming, and scholarships to train public service librarians. - Wednesday, Nov. 10 The Women and Girls Fund of Waukesha County is hosting a free, daylong event to engage students, parents and community members throughout the Waukesha County area in building bully-free communities. - Saturday, Oct. 23 Admission Possible will host it’s Milwaukee Fall Service Day at Goron Park in Milwaukee’s Riverwest neighborhood. More than 150 high school juniors and seniors from Hamilton High School, International Peach Academy, Milwaukee School of Languages, Northwest Secondary School, Riverside University High School, South Division High School and St. Joan Antida High School will participate in cleaning up the park from 9 to 11:30 a.m.
- Tuesday Oct. 26 through Thursday, Nov. 14 The Milwaukee Art Museum will host its Soup for Soup food drive to benefit Hunger Task Force. Every visitor who brings in a donation will receive a voucher for a complimentary cup of soup in the Museum’s Café Calatrava. The Museum is open Tuesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Thursdays until 8 p.m. Admission is $12 for adults and $10 for students, seniors and active military, and is free for members and children 12 and under.
