Delta Dental of Wisconsin president and chief executive officer, Dennis Brown, is retiring in April 2016. Dennis Peterson, who has served as executive vice president since 1993, will succeed him.
A leadership transition will begin immediately, and Peterson will take over the day-to-day operating responsibilities across the organization on Jan. 1.
Headquartered in Stevens Point with sales offices in Milwaukee and Madison, Delta Dental of Wisconsin provides dental insurance to 1.8 million subscribers and their dependents.
Brown began his career at Delta Dental as the executive director in 1973. Shortly after, he was named president and chief executive officer.
“Dennis has had a remarkable 43-year career of continuous service to this company,” said Chuck Nason, chairman of Delta Dental of Wisconsin’s board of directors. “He has taken this company from a minor player to the most widely respected dental benefits company in the state of Wisconsin. We are pleased that he has elected to stay on our board of directors and will continue to share his tremendous knowledge of the industry and this great company.”
“The past 43 years contain many fond memories of excitement and challenges along the way,” Brown said. “The commitment of all Delta Dental employees, past and present, to be better than just good, is the reason for the company’s success. I’ve been fortunate to have been associated with them, and I’m so proud of all their accomplishments.”
His successor, Peterson, has been with Delta Dental of Wisconsin for the last 37 years, serving in a variety of leadership positions.
“(Dennis Brown’s) strong leadership over the past four decades has shaped this organization and contributed greatly to the success of Delta Dental of Wisconsin. He created an atmosphere of innovation that has led to the development of industry-leading dental products and services. We have tremendous opportunity ahead of us thanks to the foundation he has built for this company,” Peterson said.
