My Place Hotels of America has started construction on a new hotel in Mount Pleasant, the company announced today.
The three-story, 64-room, 28,776-square-foot hotel will be located at 13320 Globe Drive, and is expected to open this summer. The Aberdeen, South Dakota-based franchisor, which has 45 existing hotels, cited the proximity to Foxconn Technology Group’s development in Mount Pleasant, as well as the University of Wisconsin-Parkside, as factors in the decision to open the hotel.
This is My Place’s first Wisconsin hotel, but likely not its last, the company said.
“Wisconsin is a promising state with much to celebrate. We do have a number of discussions ongoing related to Wisconsin locations throughout the state, including Wisconsin Dells and Green Bay, to name a couple,” said Terry Kline, executive vice president of franchise development at My Place. “It is premature to go into further details in order to respect the privacy of the developers involved.”
Located at the southeast corner of Highway 20 and I-94, My Place will be near a grouping of other hotels, including a Days Inn by Wyndham, a Country Inn & Suites by Radisson and Excel Inn.
My Place also announced today it will open hotels in Overland Park, Kansas and Shakopee, Minnesota. The company has been expanding rapidly, with as many as 20 new hotels planned for 2019, which would bring its total reach to 27 states.
