WallyPark, one of Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport’s off-site parking locations, has closed permanently, the airport recently announced.
Located at 4747 S. Howell Ave., WallyPark featured about 1,200 parking stalls and has been in operation for seven years.
The airport is honoring former WallyPark customers with gift cards, groupons and loyalty points to be redeemed for covered daily parking at airport-owned parking lots.
“The airport is welcoming former WallyPark customers and will likely see a net increase in parking revenues as a result of WallyPark’s closure,” said Harold Mester, airport director of public affairs and marketing.
Mester said it’s too early to tell how much parking revenue will increase for the airport, adding that additional revenue is important because the more revenue the airport earns, the more cost effective it is for airlines to add flights in Milwaukee.
The airport budgeted approximately $17 million in parking revenues for 2021 budget.
Airport-owned public parking facilities have more than 13,000 spaces available for travelers in all of its parking facilities, including hourly parking, daily parking, the surface lot, SuperSaver Parking and valet parking.
The WallyPark property is an approximately 15.5-acre site with a 397,460-square-foot building and a 15,242-square-foot building. The property is owned by Los Angeles-based L & R Group of Companies, which is a vertically integrated company that owns, operates and develops parking properties throughout the United States.
The assessed value of the property is $7.5 million, according to city assessment records.
In 2013, the former Wyndham Milwaukee Airport Hotel & Convention Center was demolished to make way for WallyPark.
WallyPark’s website is now referring its customers to park in the Fast Park location at 5201 S. Howell Ave. Fast Park is also offering incentives to former WallyPark Customers, including bonus reward points and honoring WallyPark bonus point balances by converting them to Fast Park loyalty points.
WallyPark did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
