Rev Collective, a Milwaukee-based professional organization for female and non-binary professionals, announced it plans to expand nationally.
The group, which uses a peer-to-peer mentoring model, launched in 2020 to address a lack of resources available to women who want to advance their careers or launch their own company.
Angela Damiani, one of Rev Collective’s co-founders and a co-founder of NEWaukee, said workforce disruptions over the past year have exacerbated the need for more professional support for women.
“In early 2020, women for only the second time in history, held more jobs than men in the U.S. economy,” Damiani. “By December 2020, nearly all of the 140,000 jobs lost in the U.S. economy belonged to women, effectively backtracking on all major gains made in the years prior. Women of color faced a substantial portion of those job losses. Bottom line – women need more support in every arena of their lives. Rev Collective provides that and more for those looking to advance their careers and entrepreneurial dreams.”
Rev Collective was created by the female founders of three Milwaukee-based companies, including Damiani; Nydia Maurás-Jones and Dena Nord, co-founders of Odvant Creative; and Kate Pociask, founder of Patron Sainte.
The group uses a “collective” model, meaning members are placed into curated groups of six to eight individuals with similar professional goals and taught a framework for coaching one another through career roadblocks.
With its national expansion, the group plans to offer those services virtually.
“The virtual nature of our lives has meant that our curation process no longer needs to be geographically bound,” said Pociask. “We have found folks want to connect with others who are experiencing the same things they are. With how busy everyone’s life is, the one-click access to the group makes connecting easier than ever.”
There is no nomination process to become a member. The price of membership is $275, and the group has launched a scholarship fund to offer memberships for those who can’t afford to join.
