Milwaukee Press Club event to explore city branding

A group of Milwaukee-area journalists and executives will discuss the need to enhance the city’s branding efforts at a Sept. 25 “Behind the Headlines” luncheon presented by the Milwaukee Press Club.

The luncheon, part of an ongoing series headed by the press club, will explore current initiatives that are helping raise Milwaukee’s identity on a national level and will also look at what needs to be done in order to further elevate its brand across the country and world.

The bigger picture of the event will focus on how branding can draw more attention to greater Milwaukee’s image as well as stimulate tourism and economic development.

Media representatives will facilitate a Q&A with a panel of industry leaders, which will feature: Tim Dixon, owner of the Iron Horse Hotel in Milwaukee; Joe Kirgues, co-founder of Gener8tor, located in Milwaukee and Madison; Michael Pink, artistic director of the Milwaukee Ballet; and Peggy Williams-Smith, corporate vice president of food and beverage for Marcus Hotels & Resorts.

The luncheon, open to the public, will run from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Foley & Lardner LLP, located on the 40th floor of the U.S. Bank Building at 777 E. Wisconsin Ave. in downtown Milwaukee.
Cost is $20 for press club members and $25 for non-members and includes lunch. Seating is limited, and advanced registration and payment are required.
