Milwaukee narrowly made the cut on a list of the best cities in the world– at least by the standards of Vancouver-based Resonance Consultancy Ltd.
The real estate, tourism and economic development consulting firm recently published its annual “World’s Best Cities Report,” which placed Milwaukee as 96th out of the 100 large-size cities it analyzed. It ranks near Detroit and Sacramento as 94th and 95th, and Kansas City and Tampa as numbers 97 and 98.
As a “ranking of global place equity,” the list reflects how attractive each city is to employees, employers and tourists, Resonance said.
Findings are based on data from digital platforms such as TripAdvisor and Instagram to measure a city’s “experiential quality and performance,” according to the report.
“As our research with partners such as Ipsos has shown, these experiential factors are now some of the most important in shaping opinions about the desirability of cities as places to live, visit and do business.”
To rank each city, Resonance used metrics based on the city’s number of online references, perception of environmental quality, major attractions and infrastructure, economic development, population diversity, and arts, culture and entertainment scenes.
