Milwaukee company recognized for innovative use of AI, data science

Milwaukee-based Sift Healthcare was one of nine companies across the state honored at the 2019 Wisconsin Innovation Awards in Madison Thursday night.

The nine winners were picked from 31 finalists and more than 400 nominees. The ceremony recognized the state’s most innovative products and services from nine industry categories, according to a press release.

Sift won an award in the Health IT category for its software that brings artificial intelligence and data science to healthcare billing. Sift’s payment management tools, which include propensity to pay and call cadence recommendations, use AI to determine which patients will pay their bill on time, which patients need a payment plan and how to best communicate with each individual patient, according to a press release.

The 2019 winners were selected from a panel of 28 experts from throughout Wisconsin with backgrounds in many business sectors – technology, food, healthcare, agriculture. nonprofits, educations and government.

“The Wisconsin Innovation Awards seek to celebrate and inspire innovation, and highlight the creative spirit from the state’s leading public, private and nonprofit sectors,” said Matt Younkle, co-founder of the Wisconsin Innovation Awards and Pythonic.AI.

Other winners included Madison-based companies Imbed Biosciences Inc., Tall Poppy Writers, Filament Games and Infosec. Middleton-based Standard Imaging, Inc., Kohler-based Kohler WasteLAB and Appleton-based Fork Farm also won awards.

“We want to congratulate all finalists and winners from the 2019 Wisconsin Innovation Awards and look forward to encouraging an even greater environment of innovation in the year to come,” Younkle said.
