The Milwaukee 7 has surpassed its own benchmarks for new jobs, total payroll and average wages more than one year early, based on goals determined in 2010.
“Back in 2010, we set some aggressive goals for new jobs, payroll and average wages that we hoped to reach by the end of 2014. I’m delighted to announce that we’ve crossed the goal line — and crossed it more than a year early,” said Gale Klappa, M7 co-chair and chairman and chief executive officer of Wisconsin Energy Corp.
In the past four years, M7 has been directly involved in the creation of 6,746 jobs, surpassing its goal by 5 percent. Those jobs represent a total annual payroll of $329 million – or 13 percent over goal.
Those jobs pay an average wage of nearly $49,000 a year, 8 percent more than the average wage in the region. Combined, these projects have generated $574 million in new capital investment, according to the M7 report.
The figures are based on projections made by companies relocating or expanding in the region, at the time of their project announcements.
