Miller to lead law firm Whyte Hirschboeck Dudek

Mark A. Miller has been appointed to the newly created, full-time position of chief executive officer at the Milwaukee-based law firm Whyte Hirschboeck Dudek. Miller formerly served as the managing officer of the firm’s Manitowoc office.
Miller will be responsible for setting the firm’s direction and guiding its future growth, a responsibility he inherits from Frederick A. Muth Jr. Muth, 62, the senior corporate attorney in the law firm, has served as the firm’s president since 1984 and also as its chairman since 1993. Muth says that Miller has been appointed to the CEO role “to provide for management continuity of the law firm and to allow me to devote all my energies to representation of clients and to various community projects in which I am involved.” Muth will continue as the firm’s chairman.
Miller, 44, is a native of St. Nazianz in Manitowoc County. He is a member of Whyte Hirschboeck Dudek’s Management Committee and has managed the Manitowoc office since joining the firm in 1994. He will continue to advise his Manitowoc-area clients.
“I feel very fortunate to be taking over a firm which has been well-managed for so many years,” he says. “We are poised for significant future growth, and I look
forward to guiding that growth. Our firm already has excellent geographic
coverage in our home state in the triangle extending from Manitowoc to Madison to Milwaukee. We also serve clients throughout the United States and overseas. We are aggressively looking at adding individuals to our offices, as well as possibly opening new ones if it makes strategic sense.”
Miller added, “My main criterion in adding talented people to our firm will be how they fit in with our philosophy. We want people who enjoy coming to work each day.”
Muth said in a memo to the firm’s personnel that “Mark Miller is an excellent choice. He has earned the respect and admiration of his fellow attorneys, support and administrative staff, clients and other business colleagues. I am confident that Mark’s leadership skills and vision will help our firm continue to grow and prosper.”
Muth joined Whyte Hirschboeck Dudek in 1962. He has been involved in the management of the law firm for 30 years. Under his leadership, the firm’s annual revenues have more than tripled and the professional staff has doubled.
Founded in 1943, the firm began with just one office in Milwaukee. During Muth’s tenure, the firm has expanded with the merger of Whyte & Hirschboeck and Frisch Dudek in 1993, and has added three more Wisconsin offices: Madison, Manitowoc and Menomonee Falls.
