Michelle Nettles, the current chief people officer at MillerCoors, will be promoted to a similar role at Molson Coors Brewing Co. when the company’s acquisition of MillerCoors is complete.
Nettles, who currently splits her time between Milwaukee and Chicago, will become chief people and diversity officer for Molson Coors. The newly created position gives her responsibility for the company’s employees globally.
The position is based in Denver and Nettles will have a residence there, Molson Coors spokesman Colin Wheeler said. The promotion will take effect after the company closes on its acquisition of SABMiller’s stake in Chicago-based MillerCoors.
Prior to leading human resources at MillerCoors, Nettles was senior director of diversity and integrated talent management at the company. She is also the former executive director of Quest Milwaukee, a youth education program at Marquette University.
She has served on the boards of Milwaukee Collegiate Academy, Pearls for Teen Girls and the YMCA of Greater Chicago. She holds a bachelor of science in economics from Florida A&M University and graduated from University of Wisconsin Law School.
Nettles is the wife of Cory Nettles, founder and managing partner at Generation Growth Capital, Inc. and of counsel at Quarles & Brady LLP. Both serve on a number of boards in the Milwaukee area.
In an email, Cory Nettles said Michelle’s promotion would not impact the couple’s presence in the community.
“Michelle and I will remain as committed to the Milwaukee business and civic community as we have been for many years,” he wrote. “We love Milwaukee and are doing our part to make it better. We also are excited to spend more time in Denver, which is a growing and thriving city as well.”
Cory Nettles was recently elected chair of the Greater Milwaukee Foundation board.
Molson Coors also announced a number of other executive leadership team positions. Once the MillerCoors transaction closes later this year, the team will include Mark Hunter, president and chief executive officer; Kandy Anand, chief growth officer; Simon Cox, president and CEO, Europe; Brenda Davis, chief integration officer; Stewart Glendinning, president and CEO, international; Gavin Hattersley, president and CEO, USA; Frederic Landtmeters, president and CEO, Canada; Mauricio Restrepo, chief financial officer; Sam Walker, chief legal and corporate affairs officer; and Celso White, chief supply chain officer.
