Milwaukee-based Marshall & Ilsley Corp. employees recently volunteered with Milwaukee Habitat for Humanity (MHH) at six construction projects in the Amani neighborhoodas part of its annual M&I Community Day initiative. The project was in conjunction with a grant from the M&I Foundation. "When we learned about Habitat for Humanity’s need for volunteers to work on several houses in Milwaukee’s Amani neighborhood, we knew the project would be a good fit for our annual M&I Community Day activity," said Mark Furlong, president and chief executive officer of Marshall & Ilsley Corp. "We look forward to the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of local families who benefit from the services offered by Habitat for Humanity." M&I employees installed insulation and drywall, painted, repaired porches and landscaped at six MHH homes. The insulation they installed, "Green Jeans," is made from recycled blue jeans and is an environmentally friendly alternative to insulate the homes. This is the largest one-day volunteer effort for Milwaukee Habitat for Humanity. In addition, homeowners were presented with a piggy bank from M&I Bank and an autographed basketball from the Milwaukee Bucks’ guard Brandon Jennings. "It is outstanding M&I will be volunteering with us on behalf of their Community Day effort. They are such an excellent partner for us, and their volunteers make a tremendous impact in the community in one day," said Sara Kierzek, executive director, Habitat for Humanity.
