M&I employees, Brockman get hands dirty for Habitat

More than 85 Marshall & Ilsley Corporation  employees recently  joined newest Bucks forward Jon Brockman in installing insulation and drywall, landscaping and painting at four Milwaukee Habitat for Humanity  homes in the Park West Neighborhood. The effort was part of the largest one-day volunteer effort for MHH and moves the homes one step closer to completion. The day was also declared M&I’s National Day of Service.
“This is our third year partnering with Habitat for Humanity at M&I,” said Vincent Lyles, president of M&I Community Development Corporation. “We obviously know there is a need out there for affordable housing and we work with a number of Habitat organizations across the country to assist in that effort however we can.”
According to Lyles, M&I not only helps with the building and rebuilding of Habitat homes, they’ve also assisted the organization with asset recovery and other financial needs as well.
M&I has helped in the construction or repairs on 16 houses over the last three years, Lyles said. This year the team helped install installation and drywall in four different houses.
“Habitat for Humanity is a very well run organization,” Lyles said. “We came in and they told us exactly what we needed to do. They knew we were there ready to assist them. It was amazing we had everyone from our CEO down to our security team step up for a good cause. They made a huge push and we got it done.”
Milwaukee Buck’s point guard Brandon Jennings joined M&I employees last year for the build, this year it was Buck’s forward Jon Brockman who helped in the effort.
“It seemed like he had some experience with this kind of work, he came and got his hands dirty right away,” Lyles said. “It’s a good way to appreciate the fact that the fans and the neighborhoods are big supporters of the Bucks, it was a great way for him to meet some local Milwaukeeans.”
