Harold Mester is leaving his position as the Milwaukee County Board’s public information manager and will assume a new job as marketing and public relations manager at General Mitchell International Airport.
Mester will report to Pat Rowe.
The number of flights to and from Milwaukee’s airport has diminished in the past year as Frontier Airlines cut back on its schedule in the city.
“This is a newly created position; to increase marketing efforts at the airport to airlines and passengers, both in Wisconsin and northern Illinois. We’re going to be proactive to restore service,” Mester said.
Mester, previously a radio journalist, had held the county board position for six years.
He will be succeeded by Velia Alvarez, who is the new county board public information manager.
