Menomonee Valley Partners Inc. will host a Menomonee Valley real estate open house from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 8. The event will be held in a tent along Canal Street and under the 35th Street Viaduct. Lunch will be provided. The event will provide all of the information that businesses need to know about relocating to the Menomonee Valley. The event will showcase the Menomonee Valley Industrial Center, which has 40 acres of industrial-zoned lots remaining and the Canal Street Commerce Center, which has industrial space available for lease. The city of Milwaukee has worked for years in an attempt to revitalize the valley, which was once a thriving center of industry but later became a massive brownfield. The city built the new Sixth Street Bridge and extended Canal Street to improve access to the valley. Also, the city acquired the former Milwaukee Road rail year and cleaned it up, creating the Menomonee Valley Industrial Center. Now some companies are relocating to the valley, including Caleffi North America, which will move from Franklin to a 35,000-square-foot building that is under construction; Taylor Dynamometer Inc., which plans to move from New Berlin to a 43,000-square-foot facility under construction in the valley and Proven Direct, which plans to move from Menomonee Falls to occupy part of the 144,000-square-foot Canal Street Commerce Center building under construction by Ziegler-Bence. In addition Potawatomi Bingo Casino is building a 500,000-square-foot expansion in the valley and Harley-Davidson Inc. is building a $95 million museum in the valley.
