As Meijer breaks into the southeastern Wisconsin marketplace, the grocer has established a partnership with the Wisconsin State Fair and committed to sponsorships for 2015 fair features.
The 2015 Wisconsin State Fair, presented by U.S. Cellular, will run Thursday, Aug. 6, through Sunday, Aug. 16.
“Meijer Day” will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 12, when the company will give fairgoers an opportunity to save $4 on one adult gate admission ticket before 6 p.m. Fairgoers will be able to take advantage of the savings when they present a custom coupon at the fair. Coupons will be given to Meijer customers who spend $10 or more at select new Meijer stores between July 26 and Aug. 12.
During “Meijer Day,” the grocer will also hand out free samples of its products as well as feature demonstrations of its offerings on fair grounds.
“We can’t think of a better place to celebrate Meijer’s first summer in Wisconsin than the state fair,” Chris Hoffman, Meijer market director for Wisconsin, said in a press release. “We’re looking forward to meeting our new customers and having a fun day at the fair on Aug. 12.”
Additionally, Meijer has pledged to present the fair’s new “Sea Lion Splash” Exhibit, which will spotlight sea lions that can balance balls, shoot hoops and do handstands. The show, which travels across the country, will also educate audience members about wildlife conservation.
“The Wisconsin State Fair has a long history of offering a high-quality, family-friendly event at an affordable price, and Meijer is a company that shares the same values,” said Rick Frenette, chief executive officer of Wisconsin State Fair Park. “We are excited to welcome Meijer to Wisconsin and look forward to a long-lasting partnership.”
Beyond the 2015 state fair, Meijer has been deemed the presenting sponsor of Harvest Fair, a free annual fall extravaganza that offers scarecrow-making, pumpkin bowling, cookie-decorating, live entertainment, and other seasonal activities. This year’s Harvest Fair is scheduled to run Friday, Sept. 25, through Sunday, Sept. 27 on fair grounds.
The Wisconsin State Fair Park is located at 640 S. 84th Street in West Allis. More information on the fair can be found at www.wistatefair.com.
