Marquette University’s vice president for finance, Chuck Lamb, will retire in 2017 after a career at the university that spanned nearly four decades.
Lamb started working at Marquette in 1977 as a financial analyst and served in various administrative roles over the years, including associate director of student financial aid, bursar, assistant treasurer, assistant vice president for budget and lecturer of economics. In 2007, the Marquette University Board of Trustees elected him treasurer.
“I feel a deep sense of gratitude for the many blessings and opportunities that I have been provided working for Marquette over the past 40 years,” Lamb said in a statement released by Marquette on Wednesday. “The challenging environment of higher education was made easier for me because of the commitment and passion of all the individuals I encountered who made significant contributions to the university through their service, excellence, leadership and faith.”
Before becoming employed by the university, he earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in economics and finance from Marquette’s College of Business Administration in 1974 and 1976.
“Chuck has guided Marquette and our financial strategy through some remarkable growth periods in our history and we are so fortunate to have had such a passionate, dedicated leader,” said Marquette University President Michael Lovell. “We look forward to celebrating with Chuck and his wife Barbara on this milestone.”
