Two design firms and a construction management company have been selected for Marquette University’s $96 million residence hall project on the corner of North 17th Street and West Wells Street on the campus near downtown Milwaukee.
Milwaukee-based Architecture firm Workshop Architects will partner with Baltimore-based design firm Design Collective to develop a vision for the new residence hall. Construction firm J.H. Findorff & Son, Inc., which has offices in Madison and Milwaukee, will be the construction management firm for the project.
The project was announced in May and includes plans for two co-ed residence halls that will house a total of 750 students connected through the ground floor by a dining hall and community space.
Once the new residence hall is completed, the university plans to demolish the 725-bed, can-shaped McCormick Hall at 1530 W. Wisconsin Ave. which has housed Marquette students for 50 years.
The university said it expects to break ground on the new facility later this year and plans to complete the project in time for the 2018-19 school year.
