Lyft launches in Milwaukee

Ridesharing mobile app Lyft is holding its Milwaukee community kickoff tonight.

The event will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. at Anodyne Coffee Roasting Company in Walker’s Point, and will feature food from Urban Caveman and Milwaukee Cupcake Company and music from bluegrass band Pay The Devil. The event is free for those who download the free Lyft mobile app.

Lyft began in San Francisco in 2012, and now operates in more than 35 cities, including Madison, where it launched in March.

The app, available for iPhone and Android, allows people to call a car and pay for the ride through their smartphone.
