Lubar MBA program ranked by Bloomberg

The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee’s Sheldon B. Lubar School of Business’ part-time MBA program has been ranked 18th in the Midwest by Bloomberg Businessweek.
UWM’s program has never before been listed by Businessweek in the annual ranking of the top part-time MBA, executive MBA and executive education programs in the U.S. The report, “The Best Part-Time B-Schools,” was released Monday and included 20 nationwide rankings as well as regional distinctions.
The rankings are compiled based on post-graduation outcomes, student satisfaction and academic quality. A student survey accounts for 40 percent of the ranking, while the academic quality and post-graduation outcome portions each count for 30 percent.
In the Midwest, the Lubar School’s part-time MBA program was ranked 18th out of 18 part-time programs listed. Marquette University’s part-time MBA program was ranked 13th and University of Wisconsin-Madison came in at 14.
The Lubar program came in at 75th place nationally, out of 76 listed programs. Marquette University’s part-time MBA program ranked 69th, followed by University of Wisconsin-Madison at 70.
According to the Businessweek ranking profile, 90 percent of Lubar’s part-time students graduate within six years of entering the program, and the average completion time is 31 months. There are 259 students enrolled in the part-time MBA program, and 40 percent of applicants were accepted into the most recent class.
The average Graduate Management Admission Test score for the incoming class was 542 out of 800 possible points.
“We’re very pleased to get this national recognition of our program – especially based on the measures of high academic quality and student and alumni feedback on the value of a Lubar degree,” said Timothy Smunt, dean of the Lubar School of Business.
The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee School of Business Administration was renamed the Sheldon B. Lubar School of Business after Lubar, founder and chairman of Lubar & Company Inc., made a $10 million donation to the school in 2006.
Bloomberg Businessweek ranked the part-time MBA program at the Love School of Business at Elon University No. 1 in the country. The University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business earned the top spot in the Midwest.
