Lutheran Social Services of Wisconsin & Upper Michigan is seeking the final $50,000 needed to complete its fundraising campaign for the organization’s new Waukesha treatment center.
LSS is $100,000 shy of its $1.7 million campaign goal to support the LSS Aspen Center, a new 22-bed residential substance use treatment facility located at 2000 W. Bluemound Road.
The center, which opened in October, provides medically-monitored substance use disorder rehabilitation and therapeutic services for men and women in two gender-specific wings.
Milwaukee-area philanthropist Richard Pieper, Sr., chairman emeritus of Milwaukee-based PPC Partners Inc., recently issued a $50,000 challenge for the campaign. Pieper, an LSS board member, has pledged to match up to $50,000 that LSS raises from the community through Dec. 31.
“It is not surprising that Dick Pieper is leading the effort to close our 2020 capital campaign for LSS Aspen Center through his $50,000 matching grant,” said Héctor Colón, president and chief executive officer of LSS. “We are thankful for his partnership and for this wonderful opportunity he is now presenting to our community.”
The LSS Aspen Center is designed to fill a growing need for affordable, high-quality addiction treatment services in Waukesha County, particularly for women, who have been referred outside the county due to a lack of options.
The facility expects to serve 125 individuals annually, and has capacity to grow from 22 beds to 34 beds based on need.
