Michael Best & Friedrich LLP is pleased to announce Lori S. Meddings, a partner in the firm’s Intellectual Property Practice Group, has been recognized as a 2016 Leader in the Law by Wisconsin Law Journal. The list celebrates the top judges, attorneys and legal professionals making a difference in Wisconsin’s legal community.

Throughout her 14 years with Michael Best, Ms. Meddings has established herself as a leader in intellectual property law, counseling clients throughout Wisconsin and across the world to combat counterfeiting issues, enforce their trademarks and protect their valuable intellectual property assets. Globally, Ms. Meddings regularly works with overseas counsel and is an active member of the International Trademark Association (INTA). As a member of INTA’s Enforcement Committee, she collaborates with practitioners from around the world to analyze legislation, evaluate enforcement mechanisms adopted by worldwide jurisdictions and develop policies to achieve harmonization of enforcement procedures for the most effective protection of trademark rights.

Outside of the legal realm, Ms. Meddings is passionate about issues surrounding diversity in the workplace and is dedicated to creating an inclusive working environment at Michael Best. As Chair of the firm’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee, Ms. Meddings focuses on recruitment and retention, policies and practices, and programs geared toward a vision of fostering diversity and acceptance. Among recent accomplishments, the firm received a 90 in the 2016 Corporate Equality Index, a national benchmarking survey and report on corporate policies and practices relating to lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender workplace equality, administered by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation.

In addition to her roles with Michael Best, Ms. Meddings actively pursues opportunities to connect with and support members of the Madison community. She is a member of the board of directors for the Dane County Rape Crisis Center and co-chairs the organization’s marketing and fundraising committee.

Ms. Meddings will be honored at a dinner hosted by the Wisconsin Law Journal on February 18 at the Pfister Hotel.
