Lockton opens Milwaukee office

Insurance and employee benefits firm Lockton has opened an office in Milwaukee, at 250 E. Wisconsin Ave., 18th Floor.

The Kansas City, Mo.-based company has more than 4,900 employees at 60 branches in 17 countries. It is the largest privately held insurance broker in the world.

The current office is temporary, and the firm plans to move into permanent downtown space in the next few months.

John O’Connor and Bill Crowley have been named senior vice presidents for the Milwaukee office.

O’Connor gained more than 24 years of advisor experience at Aon Hewitt and its predecessor, Hewitt Associates. He specializes in health and welfare plans, global human resources issues, pension and retirement plans and strategic planning.

O’Connor will be responsible for business development and client strategy. He earned a bachelor’s and MBA from University of Wisconsin and an MBA from University of Warwick in England.

Crowley has more than 20 years of experience as a human resources and employee benefits advisor, most recently as principal and client manager at Mercer in Milwaukee. He works with complex organizations across many industries.

He will be responsible for business development and advising clients on benefits compensation strategy, design, funding and administration. Crowley holds a bachelor’s from Boston College and an MBA from Loyola University.

“John and Bill are two highly regarded benefits consulting professionals who will help our clients make intelligent business decisions as they face the ongoing challenges of health reform and rising benefits costs,” said Tom Schaffler, president of Lockton’s Chicago operations. “This expansion provides middle market and multinational companies with a strong alternative for their insurance and employee benefits solutions.”

Lockton opened to Milwaukee office to serve its existing Wisconsin clients. The company plans to expand its customer base here and hire more employee benefits and property-casualty insurance employees soon.
