Milwaukee management, labor and employment law firm Lindner & Marsack S.C. has named Thomas Mackenzie its new president.
Mackenzie joined Lindner & Marsack in 1980 and has been a shareholder since 1985. He succeeded Jonathan Swain as president on Jan. 1, which was part of the firm’s succession plan. Swain, who served in the role for eight years, will remain active with the firm as chairman of the board.
The firm also promoted three of its attorneys, Daniel Finerty, Chelsie Springstead and Melissa Stone, to partner. And Jerilyn Jacobs has been hired by Lindner & Marsack as a partner. Lindner & Marsack now has 29 employees, 19 of whom are attorneys.
“I’m going to hopefully keep the ship on the same path that Jon put us,” Mackenzie said. “We’re coming off two of our most successful years, and we’re hoping to continue on that same path.”
The company’s marketing efforts have helped it expand its client base over the past couple of years, he said.

Finerty was hired in 2012 and specializes in defending discrimination, retaliation and harassment claims, as well as health care retaliation claims under Wisconsin’s Health Care Worker Protection Act. He has represented clients in federal, state, tribal and appellate courts and in several regulatory agencies. Finerty is AV Rated by Martindale Hubbell in Labor and Employment Law and has received a “First Tier” ranking in Best Lawyers and U.S. News & World Report in Appellate Practice. He was among Wisconsin’s Super Lawyers in 2014 and 2015 and was among its Rising Stars five times in Employment Litigation-Defense.
Springstead joined Lindner & Marsack in 2009. She works with clients on worker’s compensation and employment defense, subrogation and Medicare-related issues. Springstead also gives speeches on these topics and offers training for employers and insurance carriers on labor and employment law. She was a Rising Star in each of the past three years in Super Lawyers.
Stone was hired in 2012 and focuses on worker’s compensation defense and subrogation. She represents insurance carriers and self-insured employers with legal guidance and action plans for case investigation and litigation. Stone also gives speeches on worker’s compensation topics.
Jacobs is a 1998 graduate of Cornell Law School who worked at Gonzalez Saggio & Harlan for the past 11 years. She has a comprehensive background in employment litigation and focuses on defending employers in discrimination, harassment, tort and contract lawsuits before federal and state courts and administrative agencies.
