Laughlin Constable, an independent brand communications and digital marketing agency, named industry veteran Mathieu Lignel president, a new position, effective Oct. 1.
Lignel joins LC from Ryan Partnership, where he was president of the Chicago office.
Lignel will work closely with executive teams in LC’s Chicago, Milwaukee, New York and Red Bank, N.J., offices to further fuel and manage the agency’s significant growth of the past few years.
LC has nearly doubled in size since 2008 as clients sought integrated content across offline and online channels for their brands.
“The good news and the bad news is that Laughlin Constable’s great work remains somewhat of a well-kept secret,” Lignel said. “The agency’s culture, creativity and digital expertise make it a perfect solution for today’s ever-changing business challenges, and I look forward to accelerating its recent success.”
Lignel began his career at BDDP & Fils Paris (now part of Omnicom’s TBWA Worldwide) in his native France, before stints at Lintas Paris and Foote Cone & Belding Paris. His work at FCB took him to Chicago and London to lead global accounts such as SC Johnson, Kmart and Diners Club, before returning to Chicago for executive leadership positions at DraftFCB and Ryan Partnership.
“Mat is the right person to help us seize the opportunities our recent growth provide us, one of which is a deep roster of talented people in creative, planning, digital, media, video and PR,” said LC chief executive officer Steve Laughlin, to whom Lignel will report. “Mat and I are both excited about this opportunity to make an even brighter future for the agency and its clients.” Over his 25-year career, Lignel also has helped grow the businesses of diverse companies and brands, including Colgate Palmolive, Kimberly-Clark, 3Com, Playskool, Honda, Wrigley, GlaxoSmithKline and Jim Beam. He and his family live in Chicago.
LC’s clients include Abbott Laboratories, Bon-Ton Stores, GE Healthcare, Lung Cancer Alliance, Master Lock, MillerCoors and OppenheimerFunds.
The agency’s business-to-business division, Mobium, does full-service brand communications for marketers such as Whirlpool, Johnson Controls, Moog, Herff Jones and Novation.
Laughlin Constable’s Full Circle BrandingTM approach combines strategic insight, arresting creative and digital acumen to help clients market successfully in the digital age.
