Landmark Credit Union could eventually add second building at planned Brookfield HQ site

Would be in addition to planned five-story headquarters office building

Landmark Credit Union could eventually construct a second office building in addition to its planned five-story, 158,000-square-foot headquarters building in Brookfield.

According to plans filed with the city, the credit union’s proposed office development for a 19.5-acre site at 555 S. Executive Drive includes the construction of its headquarters in phase one and the possible addition of a 148,000-square-foot building as part of phase two.

The planned headquarters project will “support growth and consolidate the majority of their administrative function under ‘one roof’ based on current and future needs,” as well as enhance the work experience of employees with updated offices, training functions and amenities, according to a letter submitted to the city by project designer Eppstein Uhen Architects.

A spokeswoman with Landmark noted in an email that the timeline for constructing the second building would be determined “based on our future growth.”

The New Berlin-based credit union announced in December it was working on plans to move into a new and larger building than its current 60,000-square-foot headquarters at 5445 S. Westridge Drive. The new building would replace the existing office building at 555 S. Executive Drive, which would be torn down.

The credit union has $3.9 billion in assets and more than 650 employees working out of 31 locations in southeastern Wisconsin. The new headquarters would house more than 300 employees who are currently at the New Berlin headquarters, as well as other area offices.

Beyond the new office building, planned improvements to the Brookfield site include new surface parking, landscaping and modifications to existing site utilities. Plans also call for outdoor patio seating for employees.

The site was selected in part because of its central location in the metropolitan Milwaukee area, its accessibility to Interstate 94 and its capacity to accommodate future expansion.

The development plans are scheduled to be presented during a public hearing during a Common Council meeting on Tuesday. The plans will then be considered by city leaders at a future meeting.
