Menomonee Falls-based Kohl’s Corporation has named Sona Chawla its first chief operating officer.
The leadership position will place Chawla over the company’s omnichannel operations as she manages store operations, logistics and supply chain network, information and digital technology, e-commerce strategy, planning and operations, and store construction and design.
Chawla comes to Kohl’s from Walgreens, where she worked in senior leadership roles over seven years, including president of e-commerce. She most recently was president of digital and chief marketing officer. Her career has also included the role of vice president of global online business for Dell, Inc. and executive roles at Wells Fargo’s Internet Services Group.
Additionally, she has worked at Andersen Consulting and Mitchell Madison Group.
Kohl’s expects that Chawla will be a potential candidate in its long-term chief executive officer succession planning.
Current CEO Kevin Mansell described Chawla as the “right leader” for Kohl’s.
“Her depth of experience in retail and her understanding of how to fully integrate technology and e-commerce into a retail experience will help Kohl’s elevate our customer conveniences across all channels,” Mansell said in a statement.
Chawla will officially join Kohl’s on Nov. 30.
