What’s new at your company?: We recently moved into our newly constructed headquarters. We are in the early stages of a company-wide phase-in of the "paperless office concept" for audit, tax and consulting engagements.
What was the smartest thing your company did in the past year?: We decided to develop "brownfield" land on lower Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive to consolidate and expand our operations.
What will be your company’s main challenges in the next year?: Developing new business in the private sector by convincing large MMAC members that services currently purchased from first-tier CPA firms can be had from our company with equal or higher levels of quality and timeliness — because it means more to us to deliver.
What keeps you up at night?: High quality and timely service delivery. Getting our building project in on budget was a top priority, and now that it is over, my challenge is to return to delivering quality professional service with a personal touch.
Do you have a business mantra?: Keeping the things simple while being on the cutting edge of the technology spectrum, as our means for efficient performance.
From a business standpoint, who do you look up to?: My grandparents, who were farmers. They were steadfast and always conscious of the quality of their products in the marketplace. Most importantly, they were straight in their dealings. Things meant what they said it meant.
What was the best advice you ever received?: Know your game and be sure it’s the one you are in.
Who is your favorite author?: Kiron K. Skinner — on historical and world events.
Personal: I’m adding my bit to the historical journey of the hardest working folks I know — my ancestors.
