Milwaukee-based Joy Global Inc. has hired Colin Boyd as vice president and chief information officer.
Boyd, who previously was the CIO at Glendale-based Johnson Controls Inc., started at Joy Global on Nov. 1.
He replaces Mark Shaver, a 40-year veteran of the company, who will move to a new role in the joy Global’s underground service products business. Shaver does not yet have a new title.
Boyd has decades of experience in information technology. He served as CIO at Johnson Controls for seven years, and before that worked as CIO at Sony Ericsson for seven years. He also worked as Sony’s Europe IT director for five years.
At Joy Global, Boyd will take a fresh look at the company’s IT infrastructure, which is a critical part of the business, and continue to implement Internet of Things technology, said Caley Clinton, advertising and PR manager at Joy Global.
“One of the big things for him is he’s really knowledgeable in the use of big data and the Internet of Things,” Clinton said.
