Jones Dairy Farm buys shuttered McCain Foods plant in Fort Atkinson

Frozen foods manufacturer shut down operations in December

Jones Dairy Farm has purchased the McCain Foods manufacturing facility in Fort Atkinson for $4 million.

The Fort-Atkinson-based breakfast sausage manufacturer purchased the plant at 801 Rockwell Ave. from Lisle, Ill.-based McCain Foods USA Inc., according to state real estate documents.  The plant is located on 15 acres.

In April, McCain Foods announced it would close operations at its Fort Atkinson plant by December, eliminating 117 jobs.

McCain, a manufacture of frozen foods, has 10 sites across the country, including locations in Appleton, Plover and Rice Lake.
