Johnson Controls leaders announced Wednesday the company will give a total of $7.8 million to Milwaukee nonprofits in 2019.
The funding will support more than 25 organizations, including the Milwaukee County Zoo, Discovery World, Marquette University and Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin.
The company announced its philanthropic commitment at a new year’s celebration Wednesday, hosted at the recently-opened Johnson Controls Volunteer Center at the United Way of Greater Milwaukee & Waukesha County headquarters.
“This event is about Johnson Controls’ commitment to Milwaukee and our appreciation for the organizations that keep Milwaukee strong,” said George Oliver, chairman and chief executive officer of Johnson Controls. “We value our leadership role in corporate social responsibility just as highly as we value our position as market leader with our products and services. We believe in doing well by doing good and we lead with a strategic approach to philanthropy.”
Several gifts were highlighted at the event, including:
- $250,000 for a Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin parenting program offered in Johnson Controls’ neighborhoods of focus – Havenwoods, Thurston Woods and Westlawn Gardens.
- $250,000 for the President’s Challenge at Marquette University.
- $200,000 for Discovery World.
- $120,000 for the Animal Ambassador program at the Milwaukee County Zoo.
- $25,000 for the Milwaukee Soldiers Home project.
