Three Milwaukee area businesses were among those honored by The Ethisphere Institute today as the World’s Most Ethical Companies.
Glendale-based Johnson Controls Inc., Milwaukee-based ManpowerGroup and Milwaukee-based Rockwell Automation Inc. made the list of 131 companies, which were recognized for: “promoting ethical business standards and practices internally; enabling managers and employees to make good choices; and shaping future industry standards by introducing tomorrow’s best practices today.”
The organization rates businesses based on self-reported data in ethics and compliance; corporate citizenship and responsibility; culture of ethics; governance; and leadership, innovation and reputation. This is the 10th year it has released the Most Ethical list.
Johnson Controls has been included on the list for all 10 years.
“Being recognized as a World’s Most Ethical Company for the 10th year in a row is a direct reflection of the strong culture of integrity that exists at Johnson Controls and the commitment that our employees around the world demonstrate every day to uphold our values,” said Brian Cadwallader, vice president, secretary and general counsel for Johnson Controls.
Rockwell Automation has been on the list eight times.
“The importance of ethics and the transparency of integrity, both ingrained in our culture, continues to increase for current and potential employees,” said Keith Nosbusch, chairman and chief executive officer of Rockwell Automation. “Employees continually look for companies that value ethics and are consistently doing the right things, the right way, every day. Our ethical culture is a differentiator, a competitive advantage and makes Rockwell Automation a great place to do your best work.”
ManpowerGroup has been recognized for the past six years by Ethisphere.
“An ethical approach to business has always been part of our DNA at ManpowerGroup, and we’re proud to have been doing well by doing good for nearly 70 years,” said Jonas Prising, chairman and CEO pf ManpowerGroup. “Today and in the future, increasing transparency of business practices means employees, customers, suppliers and shareholders alike want to know that meaningful work is being done ethically. Our 27,000 colleagues in 80 countries and territories worldwide take pride in working ethically every day and I thank them for that. They are the reason we are the most trusted brand in our industry and why we have been named one of Ethisphere’s World’s Most Ethical Companies for six consecutive years.”
Other Wisconsin companies on the list include Oshkosh Corp. and Wisconsin Physicians Service Insurance.
