Newtown Square, Pennsylvania-based Insomnia Cookies has submitted plans to open a location inside a Milwaukee Bucks-owned retail building adjacent to The Beer Garden, an outdoor event space and bar that opened in fall 2018 near Fiserv Forum. The bakery chain would take over a 1,265-square-foot space on the east side of the building, located at 1133 N. Old World Third St., according to city documents. It would share the structure with The Beer Garden's 558-square-foot tap room. Company representatives have confirmed the proposed store, but declined to provide further detail, saying negotiations with the Bucks are ongoing and a lease agreement is not yet finalized. The Bucks declined to comment. Plans include a $90,000 interior buildout of the space. The Deer District store would be the third Milwaukee location for Insomnia Cookies, which also has stores in Bay View and on the East Side. Since its founding in 2003, the company has expanded to more than 100 locations across the U.S. and has become known for its late-night cookie, cake and ice cream delivery services.
