Muskego-based Inpro Corp. will establish an operations hub in Italy to support its European business, the company announced Tuesday.

The company said the move is designed to put production and warehousing in close proximity to customers in Europe and the United Kingdom. A new entity, Inpro Europe S.R.L. was established in Orvieto, Italy to support the move.

The company, founded in 1979, makes door and wall protection, washroom, expansion joint, privacy systems and elevator protection systems, along with architectural signage.

Inpro has been active in Europe since 1997, although the activity was mostly through distributors. The new operations hub will cut transit time and reduce shipping costs, the company said.

“We look forward to bringing our production and distribution to Europe to better serve the market,” said Marc Holland, Inpro’s president, in a statement. “Architects and contractors trust Inpro products world-wide, and our European business unit will bring a level of service to the market that they don’t traditionally receive.”

The company also recently hired Jonathan Tomlin as its European director of business development. Tomlin is based in the United Kingdom.

Becky Burns, Inpro marketing communications specialist, said the new facility would initially serve as a warehouse with two employees to hold materials from U.S. and European partners. There won’t be any impact on Wisconsin operations, but the new hub will allow the company to focus on expanding in domestic and international markets simultaneously, she said.
