An Illinois-based behavioral health system plans to open a clinic in a former chiropractor office in Glendale. Grand Oaks Behavioral is seeking to occupy the space at 305 W. Silver Spring Drive currently occupied by Solcare, which is relocating its clinic. Dr. Ilva Van Valkenburgh, a Mequon-based psychiatrist with the Libertyville, Illinois-based health system, plans to purchase the building and open a behavioral health clinic there. It's currently owned by Solcare owner Angela Hall, according to city records. Under new ownership, the 2,558-square-foot clinic will provide outpatient services, including medication management and psychotherapy, with the goal of reducing levels of stress, burn out and depression in the community, according to Van Valkenburgh’s application to the city. “By increasing the availability of these services, the clinic will contribute to the state and federal government initiatives to reduce mental/emotional stress and disfunction, (thus) providing (the) community with resources to become (a) safer and more resilient environment,” Van Valkenburgh said. The clinic is expected to have six employees and operate 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Pending city approvals, Valkenburgh said she expects to begin offering services in early 2022. The plan commission will review the plans Tuesday. Grand Oaks Behavioral Health currently operates two clinic locations in Illinois, in Libertyville and Northbrook.
