iDAvatars’ “Sophie” avatar will be included in Swaive’s intelligent ear thermometer to “deliver an interactive user experience for remote patient monitoring,” according to the company’s announcement.

The avatar was released in March 2015 and is designed to observe; perform assessments and record interactions in personal health records. It also picks up on a user’s emotions and mood and then responds appropriately.

Norrie Daroga, iDAvatars chief executive officer, said the partnership is “a milestone” for the company.

“As the first emotionally intelligent avatar of her kind, Sophie will augment Swaive Thermometers’ features by having a conversation with customers and delivering compassionate, individualized care with patience, empathy, and a sense of humor,” Daroga said.

Silicon Valley-based Swaive makes thermometers that include the ability to adapt to a user’s age and track temperature trends.
